Wines Organized by Colour & Taste
Oak & Vine Likes
Look for the wines that have earned our Oak & Vine “Likes” sticker. These wines are some of our favourites for quality and style.
Bold
Full-bodied, powerful, satisfying
Wines from our bold category offer rich flavours of red fruit, spicy oak, and conspicuous tannins. Bold wines make perfect companions to a variety of meat dishes. Examples of bold wines might include a California Zinfandel, or a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bubbles
Sparkling wines, fizz & flavour
Our bubbles category is comprised of both Champagne and top-quality sparkling wine such as a Prosecco from Italy or a Cava from Spain.
Crisp
Light bodied, clean & refreshing
Crisp wines emphasize clean, fresh fruitiness and balanced acidity (think of ripe citrus). They are versatile enough to drink alone or pair with a wide range of lighter foods. Examples of crisp wines might include a Pinot Grigio from Italy or a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
Juicy
Fruit forward & instantly drinkable
Juicy wines can be bright with low tannins or food-friendly favourites. Examples of juicy wines are a Beaujolais from France or a Chianti from Italy.
Mellow
Perfectly balanced & easy drinking
Mellow wines seamlessly integrate ripe fruit, refreshing acidity and other flavours into a balanced whole. They may even feature oak ageing and other winemaking techniques that add texture or taste complexity. Examples of mellow wines might include a California Chardonnay or a Canadian Viognier.
Smooth
Medium-bodied, velvety & refined
Smooth wines combine their fruit-forward flavours in a single, balanced package. While smooth wines may offer flavours of blackberries, and cherries with notes of smoke, oak and freshly tanned leather, no one element dominates the mix. Examples of smooth wines might range from an Oregon Pinot Noir to a Malbec from Argentina.
Sweet
Honeyed & indulgent
Sweet wines are not necessarily just for dessert. Sweet wines might include a Tawny Port from Portugal or an Ice Wine from Canada.
